Mark Flower & Conor Hawkins, London. Mark Flower & Conor Hawkins reserved their week with Ebro Angling Tours in the hope of hooking some monster sized carp. They chose a week in October to fish and with some fantastic sunshine and abnormally high temperatures for the time of year, the session looked at being a good one and everything looked to being on thier side. Bait was trickled in at a reasonable rate, well, to Ebro standards anyway, and this was the way forward as the carp fed at their regular times. A number of good fish were unfortunately lost to the snags with Mark doing all he could to try and stop the power surges that the Ebro carp make during the fight. By the end of the week they had notched up a number of good fish with the average size knocking around 30lbs. However, the best was left for last. As the light faded away on the last evening, Conor's right hand Delkim broke the silence. He hit into the rapidly moving fish, stuggling to make any advantage for himself as it did so. The battle insued for around 10 minutes before the fish was finally won over and brought gently to the net. The carp was swiflty lifted on to the mat, unhooked and weighed. The Reubens lurched round to 44 lbs which left a huge smile on Conors face. The trophy shots were made before the fish was released back into the water, fantastic ! Well done guys and see you next October.
Phil Byrne, Plymouth. Phil Byrne of Plymouth booked up a trip with Ebro Angling tours during the latter part 0f 2008. His session was to take place during the last week of May 2009, it wasn't to dissapoint either ! The river wasn't in the best of form due to the amount of rain fall in the North of the country flowing down the Rivers Cinca and Segre. But, with the attitude of "the show must go on", we planned an attack and made an assault.. We started off lightly baiting as there were fish in the swim, but not wanting to spook them out until they were feeding heavily on the bait, this was to be the first approach. As the day progressed this proved to be the way forward with a few carp gracing the net and the mat to 20lbs. Over all during the week Phil took a number of carp & cats topped with a magnificent specimen at 170lbs, and common carp to 32lbs. Well done Phil on an excellent trip during a very hard hard week due to the river conditions. Also well done to returning anglers Jim Bradley and Paul Luke along with Jim's Dad Carl and his good friend Bob Cwikinski. They bookrd up for a carping holiday at the end of 2008 after Jim and Paul had their first Ebro session back in July 2007 where they bagged numerous carp to 30lb plus. This session was to prove no different, with catch rates and weights up on there last trip out. There best day was Tuesday 12th of May where between four of them they bagged over 650lb of fish, an absolute manic session where we even had to break for lunch as to get some food and drink inside us.! The total amount by the end of the week was in excess of 2000lbs of fish, an outstanding achievement guys, well done to you all, and see you again !
Tony Edgar, North Wales. North Wales based carper Tony Edgar fished a weeks session with Ebro Angling Tours during January 2009. Tony took a total of 22 carp to 35lbs 1oz, with another thirty adding to his tally. . Tony fished to a baited area at range, with the majority of the fish being taken during their morning feeding spell. Pellet was the hook bait fished over Ebro Angling Tours parti-blend and maize. This works extremely well both in Winter and Summer. With the fish shoaling up more in Winter, this tends to hold them a bit longer in a baited area thus giving that advantage of hooking a few which Tony found out about sooner rather than later !. The weather was also kind to Tony, with some winter sunshine and cloudless blue sky . Friday during the last few hours of the session saw the weather system change with high winds gusting to just over 100 MPH. Well done to Tony and hope that your August session this year will be as productive.
Robert & Marion McCoy, Scotland. Robert & Marion McCoy from Scotland arranged their Angling holiday through us here at Ebro Angling Tours for October 2009. They opted for the mixed carp & cafish session, like it says, an option to fish for both species during the weeks sessions. Both were Ebro virgins, but that was soon to be erased. The weather once again was fantastic, a welcome change for Mr & Mrs McCoy with clear blue sky, warm sunshine and some fantastic fishing to boot ! By the end of the week Robert & Marion had banked some excellent catfish & carp. Roberts biggest of the week was a 144lbs plus catfish that gave him an unforgetable fight all the way in before being handed. The couple took carp to 30lbs plus, with Marion also bagging a twenty or two. Well done guys and thanks for being wonderful guests. Looking forward to seeing you both again next year.
Well done to Jake Casson who as described above, banked this fantastic 49lb common on Christmas Day. Jake fished along side the organiser of the trip Peter Weight, over the festive period. In total they banked over 22 fish, with a number of upper twenties and thirties to complete the festive rout. Both opted for the winter special option that we here at Ebro Angling Tours run from November until April. Watch this page for more deals on holiday packages.
226LB CATFISH FOR CARL SMITH
Two years on, the Ebro record catfish of 226lb still stands as the largest Wels cat fish to be caught from the Ebro system IN Mequinenza. Carl was being guided along with his friend Dave Jones by us here at Ebro Angling Tours when he caught the monster cat. This included a haul of three other cats going over the magical 200lb mark. Another definite European record for both Ebro Angling Tours & Carl Smith.
Carl Smith & Dave Jones with there Ebro record Wels Cat Fish caught in Mequinenza whilst on holiday with Ebro Angling Tours. This is still the undisputed champion of the River Ebro, Spain. Gary & James Foulkes Father and son team Gary and James visited the Ebro for the first time with us here at Ebro Angling Tours, and they weren't to be disappointed ! During there weeks trip, they took a number of carp and catfish, smashing their personal best fish by huge margins. The week was up and down with the weather and river conditions changing everyday. Short eight hour sessions were the order for the two London boys, with plenty of steady action keeping them activet through out the day. They took carp to 30lb plus, and a number of cats to 162lbs. A big well done goes to seventeen year old James who had very little experience in hooking larger species of fish before he came here. To be honest, he fought it like a true pro as the big cat took him on a number of strength sapping runs, but he finally tamed the fish after a twenty minute battle, well done James. Gary, his father was over the moon for him to have both the biggest carp and catfish for the weeks fantastic haul. Well done guys and see you next year.
